I am not a coffee snob BUT I have failed miserably with the other options for coffee for camping and traveling. This amazing gadget solved all the problems: it is light weight and produces very consistent grind for the dripper. The combination weighs less than the GSI Outdoors JavaGrind; As compared to the JavaGrind, this Grindripper is easier to hold and is more solidly built (I returned the JavaGrind soon after I bought it because the axle broke after just three uses and was inconsistently grinding for drip coffee. This gadget has a spring on to hold the burr correctly for more consistent grind. BUT, to succeed with this, you must: 1. purchase and use recently roasted beans (i.e., "recently" means within a week ) do NOT get dark roast!; 2. watch and study the pour over video on You Tube from Orphan Espresso (the vendor from whom this purchase from Amazon was made); 3. change the amount of coffee bean to 10 gm for 6 ounces of finished coffee; and 4. use a hot water dripper that will allow you to pour INTO the dripper at the same rate the liquid coffee is exiting the dripper. For the hot water dripper, I recommend the insulated Tervis 10 oz. Clear Tumbler -- the very small vent on the not brand new travel lids deliver hot water in a "rainbow" shape (like a water fountain) that is exactly the correctly sized stream to pour over the grinds! I know, I know, no plastic should touch the coffee -- BUT - the Tervis Tumblers are: BPA free and microwaveable (just don't get one that has metal decorations), are lighter and smaller than ANY of the goose neck kettles. AND I also found a round scale that fits into the 10 ounce tumbler. I also discovered, at least for my usual altitude, that pouring boiling water into the tumbler immediately put the water at perfect temperature (and the insulation held it there). I found the partially english site for the maker, Blackwine, and that site has a video on how easily this can be cleaned. Finally, I recommend (as did the Orphan Espresso site) setting the grind at between 3 and 4 clicks (you must put the handle on the gadget to change the grind setting or to disassemble for cleaning.) Oh, and one more thing, when folding the seam down, I avoid folding the last 1/2 inch or so at the cone tip -- that way, the folded seam does not impede the flow out of the cone. I love this gadget!
